Recipe: Moqueca de peixe baiana (Brazilian Fish Stew)

A traditional Brazilian recipe, this stew is best served with rice.

Ingredients
  • 4 fillets sea bass fresh
  • 250 g prawns peeled
  • pinch sea salt
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 4 tbsp lime juice
  • 3 tbsp onion grated
  • 3 tbsp oil vegetable
  • 1 large onion cut into rings
  • 200 ml coconut milk
  • 360 ml water
  • 1 pepper green
  • 1 pepper red
  • 2 tomatoes seeded and sliced
  • 1/2 bunch spring onions chopped
  • 1 bunch coriander fresh
 Instructions
  1. Wash fish under running water and pat dry. Season with salt, garlic and lime juice and marinate for 30 minutes
  2. Add the olive oil to a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the grated onion and cook for a few second
  3. Add the fish and prawns along with the marinade to the pan and cook for a few minutes
  4. Add the oil, onion slices, coconut milk and water; simmer for about 15 minutes
  5. Add the peppers, tomatoes, coriander and spring onions; cover and cook for another 5 minutes. Serve hot with white, brown or coconut rice.
